who ya gonna call? [night 4]
[ ...So that happened, and it was bad. For everyone? For everyone. There's nothing much to do with all of this, nothing except maybe try and get some sleep. Or, wander around the city like an insomniac. What much do you do after watching a man be burned at the stake?
In any case. The night life goes on. And McDonald's certainly does not. ]

Now it's just a matter of figuring out what to do. For now, she can be found staring at the window display outside the electronic store, watching the TVs flicker through the various channels. She half expects Headroom to appear on one of them for a split second, but she's not surprised when it doesn't happen. ]
I wonder how you get in one of these things. Is there a panel in the back?
[ Later still, she can be found at the beach, sitting not too far off the shoreline, leaning back as she stares into the dark abyss of the ocean. She couldn't get this kind of view out back home, so it's kind of a nice change of pace from the industrialized environment in the town behind her. ]
I think I could get used to this, really. [ She's talking out loud to herself, not really anyone in particular. ] I could do without the thinly veiled threats, but... it's really not such a bad gig.

Kimberly's walking on the beach still, thinking. Maybe she'll sleep, eventually? But she doesn't expect this. ]
Alice...?

Oh, Kimberly! I didn't see you there! What're you doing out so late?
[ ... hopefully she didn't just hear any of that. ]

I was about to ask that myself. I couldn't calm my mind. Don't you need some sleep?

M-me, too. It's been a long day... hard to believe any of that actually happened.

It's hard to believe it went that far...but I'm not surprised whoever brought us here has those kinds of intentions.

rip sorry this took so long to reply to
[ She nods, looking back over the ocean. ]
I guess with how everyone here has supposedly done some bad things... I guess it's hard to think that no one'll kill each other. It just depends on what kind of phone message triggers a certain reaction out of someone... I guess.
Shhh take as long as you neeeed

I think it's naive to think that no one here has done anything wrong. No sense in getting killed trying to trust everyone.

[ There's nothing accusatory. It's simply a question. ]
The offer of living here...making a new life. Is that something that interests you, Alice?
[ ...Yeah. Yeah, she definitely heard. ]

[ Rats. ]
I mean, it's certainly appealing. You wouldn't want to ditch your old issues and stake a new claim somewhere else?
[ Why yes, she's going to keep deflecting for as long as she can. ]

[ But- ]
But that's not the real problem here... All this? The...mockery of a trial? Would you really take that too?
