Final Investigation 2 - Phone Company (Day 19, cont)

[The second location Mac Tonight drops you off is a tall and imposing building with a sign that reads SUPER SARGASO TELECOM CO. The rain is starting to die down a little, reduced to a mere drizzle. He pulls over and parks the car, but then pauses, casting an eye towards the entrance.

The doors are slightly ajar.]

Someone's been here already. The Delivery Men probably saw your friends searchin' the communications tower and decided to beat us here.

[He opens the door to let the rest of the passengers out--Peter Quill, Peter Venkman, Xander, and Booster Gold.]

I'll be back soon. Remember, we need to find out where they're being holed up.

[And then he drives away, splashing some water back onto the sidewalk. As soon as Mac Tonight disappears, however, you don't have any time to investigate first. Two figures wearing swan masks suddenly charge out of the doors, one of them holding a chainsaw and the other wielding a pistol.

The one with the pistol fires off one, two, three shots. All of them hit their target in the chest--Booster Gold. The man lets out a startled noise, clutching at his wounds before tumbling down to the ground.

Booster Gold is dead.

The masked figures then turn to face the remaining survivors, ready to charge. What will you do?]

Well. That's not mysterious at all. He'll take it with him.

Anyway, if that's all that's in here, it's probably time to serendipitously wander into the Customer Service area, isn't it. Since he's the only one with the password now ]

Well, there's a big, clunky monitor with an even bigger, more clunky computer under it. On a bookshelf nearby, there seems to be a row of files, alphabetically sorted by customer name.

Wanna boot it up and put in the password?]

[ Customer service, my ultimate nightmare

Especially since he probably knows where the on switch is. He'll just wait after putting in the password to see what happens . . . ]

[As the computer boots up, a list of recently made calls from the system can be seen, labeled by customer name, number, and time made. About twenty-four hours ago, there was a call made by someone labeled "TDM" to someone named Ryan G. If Testament clicks on any of these calls, he can listen to what was said.

There's a search bar at the top of the application if he wants to filter his searches, as well.]

[ Hmm...

How about listening to that call first that was made twenty-four hours ago? ]

[Let's see....the voice is definitely the reverend's voice, now that you recognize him. The voice seems to match most of the calls made to the motel, as well.]

Hi, this is "Dean" from the office. We need you to come in and clean up a few loose ends on some paperwork at the police station. We'll be sending you the address shortly.

We trust you to be discrete as always, of course.

[...Huh. If Testament clicks on any of the other calls NOT made out to the motel, but to other people, those calls don't actually sound particularly threatening, unlike the ones at the motel. The calls are made out to people such as Ash, Alex, Everett B., Jefferson G....here's a sample of a few of them:]

This is 'Thomas' from the methadone clinic. We've scheduled a short meeting for you tonight. We're at NW 184th Street, apt 105. And don't worry... We know discretion is of importance to our clients.

[And--]

It's 'Dave' from Miami pest control. We need you. A client at SW 104th Street is having vermin problems. Try to handle it as quick and swift as you can. Someone else will clean up for you after you leave. Make sure not to bother any of the neighbors.

[There's also a few calls to the motel, though, to be honest, you've probably already heard them.]

[ Even though he made no effort to engage himself in that conversation, the incident at the police station was too big for him to remain ignorant about. It couldn't be a coincidence...this must have been a message to Mac Tonight.

"Vermin problems"? Is that what they're calling hits and assassinations these days? Honestly...

...

Curiously, he'll place in the number 613 in the search bar, remembering a discussion he had a few weeks back. He's just wondering if he'd find something, that's all. ]

[...Huh. For some reason, only one result loads, and it's an answering machine message from Michael Foley, to Reverend Eisner. The date is from before you all arrived at the motel. He sounds...rather angry.]

You better get that fucking robot working, or else we may as well throw all our other work in the goddamn garbage! Stupid fucking technology--you said it would be working, and we still don't have enough power for the entire goddamn system--I'm coming down tomorrow, we need to get this shit going as soon as possible.

[A pause. He seems to calm down a little.]

We also need to do something about that goddamn hippie. I know you said he doesn't pose a threat to our plans, but he seems like a real goddamn loose end to me. When we finish this, I want you to tell me that we'll get rid of him for good.

[There's a loud click. That's all for now!]

[ That's some interesting information to digest, and of course... ]

...Hmph, just about as tasteless as I expected.

[ They were definitely talking about killing Beard, weren't they? People let a little power go to their heads and they think they're practically the rightful god or whathaveyou.

He's been there, he should know.

Either way, he'll turn and leave, but of course he'll make sure to write all of this down somewhere so he doesn't have to repeat all of this, and waste time. ]

[While Testament's got the computer (thanks buddy), Xander's going to go check out the files! Oh boy, more files!!! He's already got some with him, but he can carry some more, so let's see what we're working with here. Are they labelled?]

[They are labeled alphabetically, with one section being A, B, C, etc...perhaps looking up specific customer names might help? After all, you know one of their frequent customers....]

If Xander looks under E for Eisner, he can find some pretty interesting stuff--a full customer profile on one Claude Eisner, including phone number, e-mail, home address, so on and so forth.

One thing that might be important for Mac to know once he picks you up is the listed business address: 613 Revelation Drive, Eden City, Florida.]
