Final Investigation 2 - Phone Company (Day 19, cont)
[The second location Mac Tonight drops you off is a tall and imposing building with a sign that reads SUPER SARGASO TELECOM CO. The rain is starting to die down a little, reduced to a mere drizzle. He pulls over and parks the car, but then pauses, casting an eye towards the entrance.
The doors are slightly ajar.]
Someone's been here already. The Delivery Men probably saw your friends searchin' the communications tower and decided to beat us here.
[He opens the door to let the rest of the passengers out--Peter Quill, Peter Venkman, Xander, and Booster Gold.]
I'll be back soon. Remember, we need to find out where they're being holed up.
[And then he drives away, splashing some water back onto the sidewalk. As soon as Mac Tonight disappears, however, you don't have any time to investigate first. Two figures wearing swan masks suddenly charge out of the doors, one of them holding a chainsaw and the other wielding a pistol.
The one with the pistol fires off one, two, three shots. All of them hit their target in the chest--Booster Gold. The man lets out a startled noise, clutching at his wounds before tumbling down to the ground.
Booster Gold is dead.
The masked figures then turn to face the remaining survivors, ready to charge. What will you do?]

... Third of all, "the last time that happened". Venkman rereads this statement a few times, in combination with "kill them and send the corpses back", and his blood feels like it's turning to ice. Goddamnit, that better not mean what he thinks it does. He starts going through the older emails, hoping to prove that feeling wrong.]

The experiment seems to be going well enough for now. The other police officers have been cooperative so far, and even if anyone dissents, the sheer majority of those subscribed to our ideals are able to overrule them. I'm concerned about the phone calls and if it's necessary to push them so much--in my opinion, they should be able to do as we want them to without additional effort from us. Isn't that the point of this whole exercise?
Also, how much longer are the "freezers" supposed to be kept active? You tried to explain it to me, but I don't think you ever finished. We'll need to draw from another source of power soon, or turn off the machine we aren't even using anymore. Please send me an update ASAP.

Any other emails involving whatever these "freezers" are? or any other emails that catch his eye in general? ... Also, is Eisner even replying to these?]

One of the first e-mails ever received in the inbox might be important.]

Dear Reverent Eisner,
My name is Michael Foley. I am a frequent listener of your program, and I especially enjoy your most recent sermons on your interpretation of the Gospel of Matthew. When I heard that your program had been pulled from the air, I was incredibly disheartened and angered by the station's decision. The media has no right to censor ideas and values that it isn't prepared for.
I was thinking over what you said in your earlier sermons, and I believe that what you stated is of extreme importance, especially in times like these. In order to make the world a better place, we must take it upon ourselves to act on God's will. But, as followers of God, it would still be wrong of us to take these reprehensible actions into our own hands. Thus, I have thought of a solution that would alleviate you of the responsibility.
If you wish to talk further to me in person, meet me at the beach in Eden City.
Thank you for your time,
Michael Foley

And he'll definitely be looking in the sent folder, thanks. That is, if none of the other emails here seem to grab his attention.]

That's all there is for the inbox, but as for sent e-mails...this one was sent about six months ago.]

I have though about your proposition, and I believe we can attempt to rework it to be even more effective. Why have us being the ones directing their efforts when we could have such sinners accomplish it for us? The process would be largely hands off for us, and would absolve us of any sin. However, I believe we will need to test this before implementing it on a wider scale. With the need for tests, comes the matter of the test subjects. However, anyone missing or dead without any explanation is cause for alarm. Thus, we must find candidates without any connection to anyone else in this world.
I have associates who may be able to help us. Meet with me at the old church on Revelation Drive.

Venkman keeps scrolling through to see if there's any other important emails that stand out... By the way, are there any other interesting emails sent to people other than this guy?]

There are some other e-mails, mostly stuff like dealing with the network, sorting out fan mail, that kind of material. But, after a certain point, the only e-mails that are being sent out are being sent to Foley. As time goes on, the sent e-mails become shorter and shorter in length, and the writing style seems to become much less formal and more frantic. There is one last e-mail to be viewed....]

Something is haunting me. I would not bother you with this information if it weren't important, but an incident has lead me to become even more troubled than ever.
If you encounter any small, porcelain clowns, ignore whatever they say to you. They cannot hurt you. They are tools of the devil, and they will attempt to lead you astray.
The subjects are doing fine. We need to be ready to expand this soon. I can feel time slipping through my hands even as I type and we need to make sure that this can live on even without our interference.
Talk to Mac. We need to make sure he listens to us, unlike last time when he drove off.

He still doesn't know what the "freezers" are. He still doesn't know if his universe's Ray is alive. And he's starting to have more doubts that Mac is actually on their side.
So this is turning out fantastic.
Is there anything else Venkman can find of use on this computer? How about the rest of the office itself?]

I'm sure you're aware of our best agent's performance. The other day, he missed a call despite never having done so before. I thought this was due to other obligations, but he's been missing more and more calls, as of late. The total amount has totaled up to five.
We need to keep an eye on him, make sure his performance and loyalty is still on par. If not, we can always retire him.
[As for the rest of the office, it's all clear!]

Cool! He's out of here.]
